Following their 36th La Liga title celebration, Real Madrid was surprised by Toni Kroos' announcement to retire at the end of the 2023/2024 season. The midfield maestro has been a mainstay of Los Blancos' midfield for a glorious ten years.

In an emotional message on Instagram, Kroos confirmed that his appearance against Real Betis on May 26, 2024, would be his last for Real Madrid.

He expressed his gratitude to the club, the fans, and everyone who has supported him throughout his career.

"July 17, 2014 - the day of my presentation at Real Madrid, the day that changed my life. My life as a footballer, but especially as a person. It was the start of a new chapter at the biggest club in the world," wrote Kroos.

A Decade of Dedication and Remarkable Achievements

Kroos reflected on an unforgettable ten years where he has given his all for Real Madrid. He has helped the club win 21 trophies, including 4 Champions Leagues and 4 La Liga titles.

"After 10 years, at the end of the season, this chapter comes to an end. I will never forget these glorious and successful times! I would particularly like to thank everyone who welcomed me with open arms and trusted me," he continued.

The midfielder known as "The Sniper" also did not forget to thank the Madridistas (Real Madrid fans) for their love and support from his first day at the club to his last.

Kroos affirmed that his decision also marks the end of his career as an active footballer after the 2024 European Championship. He is determined to achieve one last title for Real Madrid, namely the 2023/2024 Champions League.
